Objective 1: Mainstreaming gender in development through strengthening local institutions in planning and budgeting that are gender and environmentally responsive.
Women's groups, youth organizations, PKK, Village Government take part in gender training activities. In this activity, participants conveyed their involvement so far in development and talked about daily problems related to basic, practical and strategic needs.

Juriya Village Hamlet Deliberation Assistance Activities
Assistance Activities for Juriya Village Development Planning Deliberations
Objective 2: Improve the quality of the environment and natural resources through sustainable agriculture.
- Socialization, FGD and Sustainable Agricultural Extension activities open up the community's paradigm about the importance of protecting the environment and natural resources.
- Watch together a short video related to sustainable agriculture to reduce the impact of environmental damage: floods and landslides.
- Karang Taruna worked together to plant trees in the residents' corn gardens (sloping land) which became demonstration plots for energy crops.
- Planting activities of 2000 tree seedlings on sloping land and along riverbanks with UN KKS Students, Disaster Preparedness Group, Karang Taruna, and members of the Juriya Village community.
- The planting of 250 trees consisting of teak, mahogany and coconut together with students from the Bilato and Tolangohula District Branch Work Council along the riverbank was initiated by the Juriya Village Youth Organization.
- Utilization of home yard for cultivating rhizome plants and kitchen spices by women's groups.
Joint Commitment regarding the Management of Natural Resources and the Environment in Juriya Village which was signed by the Village Head, Village Secretary, LPM, BPD, PKK, Farmer Group Representatives, Karang Taruna, Women's Group and other elements witnessed by all residents of Juriya Village.
Objective 3: Community empowerment (especially women) based on local agricultural production.
Regular discussions with a group of women making village coconut oil.
Assistance to the Corn Stick maker group in developing business strategies: Business analysis, promotion, sales and financial recording.
Group assistance in carrying out business analysis and carrying out financial records.
Training on local corn stick processing by women's group.
Independent processing of corn sticks by women's groups to meet consumer demand and participate in exhibitions.
The Women's Group became presenters at the training carried out by Pilomonu Village, Tolangohula District (neighboring district).
After receiving reinforcement, Grandma Bi'a and Mrs. Salma Husain reprocessed coconut oil. Even though it is still traditional, it can meet daily needs and is also produced for sale and also to participate in exhibitions.
PROGRAM IMPACT
- Village government's support for sustainable natural resource management by involving the community.
- The Village Government involves the community in the development stages, both planning and budgeting, and provides space for residents to participate in decision making.
- Youth and farmers on sloping land are active and have taken the initiative to carry out participatory planting as a preventive measure against environmental damage.
- There is a market for local food products in Juriya Village.
IMPACT OF ACTIVITIES
- The young generation of the village is actively involved in carrying out planting activities, especially in plantations with sloping land. This movement is certainly very effective because not only teenagers but elementary school age children are also involved.
- At every stage of development, the government now involves women and even gives them space in decision making.
- The role of women's groups which are starting to become active also influences the PKK which has a strategic position in village government to encourage gender and environmental responsive policies. One of the group members has now been appointed as staff in the village government.
- The group's activeness in several village discussion meetings increased their self-confidence. In formal forums such as the VILLAGE MUSRENBANG, one of them conveyed his aspirations before the sub-district head and other village governments, and the aspirations conveyed were related to the condition of agriculture on sloping land which was very disturbing to many residents due to the impact of floods and landslides caused and this was requested to be a priority village government.
Village youth carry out planting activities before they play football. This stems from their awareness of the importance of protecting the environment so that it remains sustainable. (February 2019).
Village Deliberation Activities. The government is aware of the importance of involving women in the development stages. This will certainly further increase women's participation in decision making. (February 2020).
Women who have been alpha from development planning deliberations are now speaking out. Mrs. Elen said that farming on sloping land is very detrimental to residents and it is hoped that this will become a priority for the village.
BEST EXPERIENCE
Having the same vision is a strength for each group member. Good communication will always maintain togetherness.
Women's groups were invited to be presenters. This proves that mentoring work is not in vain and of course you can share it with other women.
Activities in the framework of Coconut Shoots Day were filled with sharing experiences of GEF SGP mentoring by WIRE-G and learning to make charcoal briquettes by Karang Taruna. (March 2020).
UPTD Gorontalo Province Job Training Center provides education and training in making village coconut oil with production results according to ministry standards. This is certainly the best experience, especially for groups of women who will later produce in large quantities. (February 2020).
PROJECT SUSTAINABILITY
- Management of Natural Resources and the environment has become a mutual agreement and is integrated in village planning documents so that this will become a shared responsibility to care for and protect it. Farming using terracing and tumpeng sari models will be trialed.
- The production of local agricultural products, namely Corn Sticks (local corn raw material) and Village Coconut Oil will become business units in Village-Owned Enterprises. The Village Government also donated 1 building which will later become a production house so that if market demand increases, production remains stable.
- Homestead farming has become the focus of the PKK Mobilization Team in the Village and in the future it will become a center for organic seeds and plants.
- The management of clean water will be maximized by the village government considering that the condition of the spring reservoir has been neglected and this was a suggestion from members of the women's group.
- Following up on the mutual agreement, Village Regulations regarding Natural Resources and Environmental Management will be issued so that all elements in the village have guidance in this management.
