TES-AMM) as resource persons. The respondent in this discussion was Agus Supriyanto (Head of the Retail Development Section, Directorate of Waste Management, KLHK). Meanwhile, the moderator in this discussion was Zulfikar (CEO of BaGoes). The discussion took place Saturday, 01/30/2021 from 10.00-12.00 WIB, via zoom meeting.
Indonesia is one of the largest waste producing countries in the world, in fact in 2019, Indonesia produced 190,000 tons of waste every day. We often hear unfortunate news from the sea, sea animals are found dead on the beach with their bodies covered in rubbish. There must be a solution to this waste problem immediately. Garbage has become a serious threat to all life on earth.
Currently, some people have started the Zero Waste movement. Zero Waste is a movement not to produce waste by reducing demand, reusing, recycling, and even making your own compost from waste. This movement actually not only has an effect on the environment, but can also make us save more on expenses. For example, by not buying packaged drinks, it means we don’t produce packaging waste and don’t spend money buying drinks. Instead, always carry a drink bottle wherever we go.
In the discussion, Ali Abdullah explained that we have got the best from nature, if there is waste we should not just throw it away. Currently the 1000 garden stalls are also developing eco enzymes.
“We produce the waste ourselves, don’t hand it over to the government, don’t hand it over to the trash collectors. “Because if small-scale houses can manage themselves, there won’t be that problem.” Said the Founder of Stall 1000 Gardens.
On the other hand, Pranandya Wijayanti from EwasteRJ’s External Relations Manager said that another danger is electronic waste or what is known as e-waste. Electronic waste is included in dangerous and toxic materials.
“The EwasteRJ community is here to carry out a campaign about the dangers of e-waste. We also provide collection points, so friends can collect electronic waste at home. Then it will be recycled by a special electronic waste processing company that is certified by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. “For now we are still focused on Java.” Said the woman who is familiarly called Nandya.
