Following up on the results of coordination between the Rai Hawu consortium and the Regional Government of Sabu Raijua Regency, in this case the Assistant for Economics and Development and the Head of the Sabu Raijua Regency PMD Service regarding the Small Grant Program (SGP), a Workshop on Introduction to the GEF SGP-7 Sabu Program was carried out. Raijua for local government, private sector and media, which took place in the Sabu Raijua Regent's Office Hall. The Small Scale Funding Program is an environmental funding program supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). This program has entered its 7th operational phase, where Sabu Raijua Regency is one of the selected landscape areas for this program intervention and is currently entering the program implementation stage which will be carried out by The Rai Hawu Consortium,
which consists of the PIKUL Foundation as an umbrella institution and six field implementing institutions in the first cycle, namely the CIS Timor Indonesia Foundation, the Cermin Masyarakat Rational Foundation, the SkolMus Cahaya Media Association, the Tafena Tabua Association, the Rai Hawu Ecology Association and the Kupang Batanam Community (KuBat ). This program focuses on community-based biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, use of environmentally friendly energy, and rehabilitation of critical land in ecosystems that have global environmental benefits. In general, the aim of the GEF-SGP 7 Program is to build social, economic and resilience. and social-ecological through community-based activities to benefit the global environment and sustainable development. The main target to be achieved is increasing social-ecological resilience through community-based initiatives both in terms of land and sea landscapes. Hoping to generate many benefits for biodiversity, climate change, land degradation and the welfare of local communities through a participatory, integrated land and resource management approach applied across the socio-ecological production landscape. In general, the aim of this activity is to coordinate the implementation of the GEF program SGP Phase VII to achieve program objectives and climate resilient development goals at the national and global levels.
Therefore, Assistant II to the Regional Secretariat of Sabu Raijua Ir. Mandi R. Kore appealed to the public to protect their environment so that fires do not occur by throwing cigarette butts in random places and burning rubbish and land around the house. On the same occasion, Sadrak Mengge, a representative from the PIKUL Foundation explained that the GEF SGP Indonesia Program is a small grant program to help community groups vulnerable to environmental change, implemented by the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and implemented by the Pikul Foundation.
Sadrak Mengge invited all existing NGO representatives to always be equal partners in developing Sabu Raijua Regency to move forward with new ideas.
