Leuwi Gajah, Cimahi, February 21, 2005, 150 people died in one night. The Final Disposal Site (TPA), which accommodates waste from the City of Bandung, Bandung Regency, and Cimahi City, exploded and collapsed. Methane gas is trapped in the garbage piles. Over time, its concentration increased until it became unbearable. It caused the garbage mound to explode and triggered landslides into residential area.
